AU got away with lots in that match that would normally be fouled. Can’t recall who the ref was but I do recall which team he favoured. Of course, it’s always in the eye of a biased fan, which is my point.
The A-League Men finals are off to a flyer - but can anyone stop Auckland?
I do recall an elimination final at Redcliffe in 2021 where one side dived at every touch and won the favour of the ref when they flew into tackle after tackle, which without a doubt won them the game. That’s football isn’t it? gamesmanship or something.

second half was disappointing and I couldn’t figure out why. Was that it – Victory shut the game down?

Not sure what you mean. They play off in their regions, seems only fair for a large, decentralised state.
FA CEO Johnson stands down, former Matilda named as interim replacement
be fair, about 5k isn’t it? I’d like to think that in 10 years they’ll have a big 30K capacity stadium there, but I have some doubts.
Arzani inspires Victory to big finals win in milestone match as Wanderers' season comes to an end
What was the coaches spat about? Couldn’t see on TV who started the crass talk first, initially I thought Staj pointing finger first but on second viewing not so sure.

He’d go well at Norwich
'Absolutely immense': Ange makes history 'under most intense pressure you can have' as Spurs advance to Europa League final
My observation I would add Waz, is that he’s prepared to make hard decisions. He’s fairly quiet and doesn’t always sell his decisions well, but in the football community he’s fighting against some hardened turf so to speak, many well established clubs and communities that don’t like change. Many of the criticisms leveled against him, cite the FQ rule on NSD relegation, are ill informed. He’s probably what FA needs, to implement the significant strategic planning done on JJ’s watch.

JJ’s has worked quietly in a bas#@ta*&sed system where political support is essential but very difficult to attract. Much the same can be said about support from peer associations within football. I think he did a pretty good job and will be missed. Thanks and best wishes to him. He’s well connected within FIFA and AFC, his talents will be highly sought after I suspect.

Good. Roar’s been on that list in past years, must have been close this year.
A-League Report card: Best young guns, top talents and how your team ranked in the regular season
United to win on Friday night, the Adelaide variety I tip, over the western variety. But Western to win on Saturday, expecting a good game.
A-League Tipping: Elimination Finals - Accidental Adelaide with chance to stun Western
I think so. Despite some (deserved) praise for recent games, his overall record meant he had to go.

I think that came from the Roar press conference. Marco wrote it up on News (linked)

we’re winners SS. Just adrift for a while. (a long while)

I have no idea, never heard of the guy until last few weeks. But I appreciate that Roar has not taken the path of appointing a failure from another A League club, like they did with RZ. We do have a tradition of giving outsiders a go, some work (one did anyway), some don’t. I wish Valkanis and his team the very best. We need them to win, everything.

Oneness with members & fans would be more than nice; it’s necessary, absolute imo.
Obviously the Bakrie group is not willing to throw away money on Roar year after year. They’ve created a stingy environment which has drawn a lot of contempt and ill feeling from members and fans. I don’t think there will be any substantial change to Roar until the club creates a decent income stream and becomes self-sustaining.

Let’s wait for the announcement. Roar still to announce their new coach.

I’m sure they are addressing the ‘underlying problems’ but as you point out, there’s no evidence to suggest they’ve achieved anything of note. It’s a tough ask when you list the challenges and the environment (not least of them political & financial) so it’s going to take a long time. But there is no reason why we can not field a team that can challenge any other team in the league, as we have shown we can this year.
On Ruben, however we judge his coaching ability, his record at Roar is terrible and fan outage had reached a level that club execs had no option but to sack him.
The A-League Men finals are here - and they're missing a huge name
I’d imagine Jacob Brazete would be happy, but Asuma showed his appreciation for Ruben every goal he scored. What I didn’t like about RZ was his press interviews. I can only imagine what some of the players must have thought about how he consistently bagged the club and his (cheap) squad.

Indonesia 3000 miles away? from Melbourne maybe, but that’s hardly Australia, they just think they are. Indonesia and PNG are our closest neighbours, not NZ.
