It only works one way Tim. 😛

You being cynical again Jeff? 😛 😂

Shock retirement call looms for Kohli with BCCI urging champion to change his mind

Not sure why an adopted animal mascot has to be local now. England & Netherlands both use lions as their national animal symbol. They don’t use a koala but a brown (grizzly) bear. Sports teams around the world use various animals as mascots that aren’t local. Sri Lanka use a lion too!!

Share Bears: V’landys floats bizarre player swap proposal with Force which contravenes the NRL’s own rules

Apparently it was financial considerations.

'Absolutely immense': Ange makes history 'under most intense pressure you can have' as Spurs advance to Europa League final

Two key points here Brendan:
*NRL has a massive product but also realistically a massive shortage of elite playing stocks
*RU is massively under resourced in terms of professional franchises partly mainly due to the weird amateur era state/provincial model they adopted, and the weird premise of a development war scenario with the likes of NZ & SAF, where the sport is the biggest or/and culturally dominant, whereas the niche nature in Australia means going above 3 franchises is fraught with danger in terms of competitiveness.

Neither Balmain, Western Sydney, Richmond, Claremont, Glenelg, eastern Brisbane suburbs have tigers. What’s your point here Bliksem????

You don’t have to care about AFL but just acknowledge that the Swans are an intrinsic part of the Sydney sporting landscape now. So, there’s no reason the Bears can’t be successful in Perth as long as they can be consistently competitive in the NRL (like the Storm) and not a consistently uncompetitive basket case like North Sydney were and like the Gold Coast Titans are now (Can’t really remember but pretty sure the Western Reds were rapidly an uncompetitive team too).

The championship is underneath the premier league.

'Absolutely immense': Ange makes history 'under most intense pressure you can have' as Spurs advance to Europa League final

Why not just go to Central Coast straight away if that’s the ultimate goal? What stops the Bears being resurrected in that area of NSW now if that’s what all relevant parties desire??

Because it’s a crowded market piru, with too many suburban clubs trying to make the cut as professional franchises. You don’t question the Sydney Swans’ existence and claim they were better off as South Melbourne, do you??
And besides, they’re actually in an RU heartland, with them and Manly having merged at one time, and playing several games a year on the Central Coast. Easts & South Sydney have had their own troubles fighting to continue their existence as well, so existing in RU heartlands hasn’t been the easiest for NRL clubs.

MP had no fanbase there whereas the rival rugby tenant of that stadium (NZ Warriors) was selling out the place. All those miscellaneous PI’s who were supposed to be fans preferred RL and love the Warriors.

Exclusive: Super Rugby considering USA expansion as World Rugby gets edgy over looming World Cup

This is nonsense. The two biggest rugby union countries pre-professionalism: SAF & NZ remain there as the sport has the inbuilt cultural dominance/public interest, and choice of athletes that no other country can realistically consistently compete with.
France & England will occasionally compete and defeat all others, but apart from there will rarely be many competitive nations. Ireland isn’t quite achieving what they’d have hoped with a golden era that still hasn’t seen one RWC won, or even a Final (or SF even?!).

The Wrap: As ever, parochialism in Australian rugby rears its head in battle over Kiss appointment

You support the structure of SRP, which is nearly two decades past it’s use by date and bleeding money. What’s to be done with NZ’s NPC, which also is a massive financial burden that NZR can’t afford??

The Wrap: As ever, parochialism in Australian rugby rears its head in battle over Kiss appointment

It was clearly sarcasm.

Can you please explain this Zambrero reference I keep seeing?

The Wrap: As ever, parochialism in Australian rugby rears its head in battle over Kiss appointment

You might recall cookie that SRP has been having these similar events in Melbourne the last few years…nobody bothered showing up, and the Victorian government won’t bother wasting more money renewing the contract!

The Wrap: As ever, parochialism in Australian rugby rears its head in battle over Kiss appointment

Isn’t MP supposed to be a foreign team based in NZ? They had so little support they moved away from their Mt Smart stadium home ground.

But there’ll be a huge uplift in broadcast revenue as there’s millions of Americans are just waiting for this to watch! Rivers of gold. 😛 😂

CA created the BBL though, which is a massive commercial and viewer success. RA is running around doing the same thing they were doing a quarter of a century ago! 👎 🤢

They’re the reigning 6N champions, no??
And that 2023 RWC was fiercely contested between four clearly superior candidates in France, SAF, NZ, Ireland, so disingenuous on your part to criticising them for not winning the tournament when these four nations were neck and neck with each other!

The loss to Liverpool last week was one of the rare thrashings they’ve had this year. Most losses have been by one goal. They’ve hardly been disgraced this year.

Brendan NH Fan,
S12 was fine but was always going to have a limited shelf life once the novelty value wore off.
